THRU THE YEARS - THE PLATINUM SERIES VOL. II
LOVE SONGS, ART SONGS, OPERA ARIAS & SACRED REPERTOIRE
From the sadness of the contemporary classic about love lost, 'Love Look Away,' and Keith's dramatic interpretation of the Neapolitan 'Core 'ngrato' (Ungrateful Heart), to his first recording as a tenor at age twenty-one, the angelic aria 'Spirto gentil,' Thru The Years Vol. II continues the varied theme of selections found on Vol. I. Also here is his orchestra accompanied live-on-KFI Radio singing of the popular contemporary song, 'The Sunshine of Your Smile,' recorded during The Hollywood Bowl Auditions contest of 1949. There are Art Songs: the rarely-recorded obscure and affecting 'The Light,' and Keith's first rendition of 'Le mirior,' both are interpreted with artistry. There are two live offerings from a Redlands Bowl concert: 'Si mes vers' and 'The Nightingale and The Rose,' and an aria from Verdi's opera, 'A Masked Ball,' sung in English and recorded during one of several performances with the USC Opera Theater. One of the most well known opera arias, 'La donna e mobile,' is here, as is his live at Redlands Bowl opera performance of 'Di quella pira,' from Il Trovatore. As on Thru The Years Volume I, a recording Keith considered among his best is included to complement this collection. That song is the 'Tomb aria' from Romeo et Juliette.
"Keith Wyatt's Manrico was full of fervor and ringing tones. His 'Di quella pira,' with the thrilling backing of the men's chorus, was a knockout, to use a mundane expression." (more)
"I was in good voice the day I recorded the 'Tomb Aria' but the arthritis in my hands were severe, and I didn't know if I could perform. But when I began to play the pain vanished, this recording is one of my favorites." Keith Wyatt
