THE HOLLYWOOD RECORDINGS​

This is Keith's definitive opera aria compilation with selections in English, Italian, French, and German. Recorded one day in 1962 at Desilu Studios during a private concert attended by his friends, Bing Crosby, Jose Ferrer, Nat King Cole, Rosemary Clooney, Lucille Ball and Dezi Arnez. These selections include 'Nessun Dorma,' the most popular aria of all time, as well as two of the greatest tenor and baritone opera duets ever composed: 'Au fond du temple saint' from The Pearl Fishers by Bizet and 'Solenne in quest 'ora' from The Force of Destiny by Verdi. As a companion piece is Keith's favorite Christmas song, the beautiful 'Wulnachten,' by composer Englebert Humperdinck. Also on The Hollywood Recordings is 'Plus blanche que la blanche,' the aria from the opera, The Huguenots, by Meyerbeer. This challenging aria is rarely recorded because of the vocal demands required to sing it in its original form. Keith affectionately called his mother 'Minnie,' named for the heroine of the opera, The Girl of the Golden West. From that opera, the beautiful aria 'Ch Ella Mi Creda' is part of this collection. Completing the selections are four arias from Otello. Keith had a remarkable ability for accompanying himself at the piano, and these intimate recordings showcase that talent.
